Goodwin "Goodie" Johns, 79, of Green Bay passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at his home.

Goodie, son of the late Marvin Johns and Margaret (Nielson) VerWeyst and step-father Eugene VerWeyst, was born September 16, 1942 in Stanley, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Stanley High School and attended Platteville State College. Goodwin's Oneida heritage (Turtle and Bear Clan) was especially important to him and he had a strong respect for the earth and all animals. He raised numerous birds including cockatoos, cockatiels and parakeets. In his spare time he enjoyed going to rummage sales.

Goodwin will be greatly missed by his daughters, Paula Johns-Brice and Sheila Johns, his grandson Justin Schultz (Kailyn) and his brother, Gordon VerWeyst (Jane). He also leaves several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will also be missed by his beloved birds.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16th from 12 PM - 1 PM with a service to follow at 1 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. Burial will follow at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
