Goldie Edith (Spicer) Hawver was born on July 21, 1920 in Cisne, IL and, sadly, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Door Cty Medical Center, Sturgeon Bay. With 98 years to her credit, she will be missed by many. She was married to Henry J Hawver for 64 years and they had four children: Ruth Ann (husband Jan Carlson), John (wife Mary), James, and Jane (Murray). They had 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Predeceased are husband Henry, daughter Jane and grandaughter Julie.
Goldie was a Bible student and teacher as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She had a beautiful singing voice and turned down a career as a radio singer to marry her sweetheart Henry. They owned the Hawver family farm in Big Foot, IL and a few others in WI, even though Goldie later revealed that she was afraid of cows! They then lived in Algoma and New London, WI and had many friends there. She loved to cook and entertain, dance around the house playing her harmonica and sing harmony with her daughters.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bay Road Place, Algoma Long Term Care and Door Cty Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 27 at 3 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7805 Evergreen Dr, Algoma, WI.
We will lovingly remember Goldie for her elegance and fun-loving personality.
