At age 89, Gloria passed away peacefully in her apartment at Woodside Assisted Living on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
She was born on February 8, 1933 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Leo La Plante and Ethyl Likens.
On July 26, 1952 she married Edward Hinnendael, in North Carolina. Glo and Ed returned to Wisconsin when his service in the military ended. They raised seven children in West De Pere. Gloria worked as a colorizing artist for a local aerial photography company when the children were small. She had an amazing capacity for original, imaginative storytelling, creating beautiful art for family, friends and her church, playing games, and most of all loving her family. Being close as a family was her mission and her passion. She wrote wonderful, descriptive letters to all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as friends and extended family, as long as she was able to write. She was an amazing source of comfort, with an open door to those who needed a Mom. If Gloria was your Mom for a minute, she held you in her heart forever.
She is survived by her children: Terry (Barb), Sandra (Roger), Becky (Robert), Molly (Henry), Heidi (Jeremy), Matthew (Tammy); 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters; Maureen (Nestor), Linda, Sharon (Jim), and Mary (Dave). She is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. She will live forever in the hearts of all who experienced her loving presence in this life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Michael.
We would like express our gratitude to the staff at Woodside Villa II and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care of our Mom.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Gloria's name to Foundations Health and Wholeness would be appreciated. https://wearefoundations.org
