Gladys Marie Baumgartner, 84, Allouez, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. She was born October 2, 1929, in Kewaunee, to the late Clarence and Doris (Monfils) Charles. Gladys married the love of her life, Richard Baumgartner on October 8, 1949. She was a devoted homemaker, focused on raising her six children. Her simple joys were spending time with family and friends. Her holiday dinners will be forever treasured. Professionally, Gladys worked for 12 years at Brown County Credit Union, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Richard; six children, Mary Hess, Doris Tipps, Amy Spice, Paul (Kitsy), Steven, and Susan Baumgartner; grandchildren, Lori (Rich) Rosio, Alex, Emily, and Ryan Tipps, Matthew and Steven Spice, Kara (Gil) Rojas-Spice; great-grandchildren, Jake and Elizabeth Rosio; brother, Orville (Georgeanna) Charles and sister, Carol Gottfried.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Dale, and son-in-law, Michael Tipps.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Girotti officiating. Inurnment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
