Gerald A. Zak, age 77, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 7, 2025 at his home, with family at his side. He was born on the family farm in Door County, WI, May 12, 1947, son of the late Anton and Mercedes (Herman) Zak.
Gerald graduated from Green Bay East High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Wilson, August 28, 1965 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. They were married 58 years before Maxine passed away January 6, 2023. Gerald was a dedicated employee of Corrigan's Custom Built Structures for 25 years. He enjoyed his job and forged long lasting friendships with his coworkers.
He was an avid sports fan, especially the Packers. Playing Suduko and visiting Baily's Harbor were some of his favorite past times. You could find Gerald enjoying ice cream with his brother, David, anywhere they went! Spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Winnie, were his greatest joys.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Theresa (Chad) Grady and Lynnette (Eric) Petasek; 6 grandchildren: Brittany, Kayley, Sidney and Jackson Grady, Elizabeth (Darrin) Bell and Jaymes Petasek; brother, David (Pam) Zak and sister, Mary (Don) Vertz. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; son, Michael; a great-granddaughter, Maxine and a great-grandson, Octavian.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM. A funeral service will follow at 4 PM. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
Gerald's family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Pritzl and the Oncology team at St. Vincent Hospital. Special thanks to Unity Hospice and our team for helping us through these last two weeks.
