Gerald Handl

Gerald "Jerry" Handl, 76, of Manitowoc, beloved husband of Sharon (Mitcheltree) Handl, departed this life on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born on January 24, 1940 in Manitowoc, WI son of the late Lester and Edith (Leiker) Handl. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was employed locally before becoming disabled. Jerry loved God, his family, and a long ride on his motorcycle more than anything. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Jerry had a wonderful ability to connect with people, and always had a joke or story to share. He will be greatly missed.

His memory will live on with his wife of 46 years Sharon and his children: Cheryl (Dan) Leider, Lisa (Nick) Novachek, Kim (Chip) VanDrisse, Kevin (Laura) Handl, and Kristy (Lee) Hedman. Jerry also leaves 11 beloved grandchildren and 2 great grandsons, along with many relatives and friends, and his dogs: Maggie and Bandit. He is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Handl, and an infant sister.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11th from 1-2 PM at Hope Community Church, 4408 County Road B, Manitowoc, WI. A Memorial Service will follow directly at 2 PM with Military Honors to follow. Interment will be private. The family wishes to thank the staff of Manitowoc Health and Rehab Center and Holy Family Memorial Hospice for the loving care given to Jerry during his illness. The Newcomer Funeral Home of Green Bay has been entrusted with arrangements.
