George M. "Wally" Wallenfang, 64, Green Bay, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born March 24, 1950, in Green Bay, to the late Merlin and Katheryn (Kaczmarek) Wallenfang. Wally graduated from Green Bay East High School with the class of 1969. On July 28, 1984, he married Joan Kazik. Wally worked as a custodian for 20 years in the Green Bay school system.
George enjoyed baseball, hockey, fishing, being outdoors, gardening, landscaping, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories, and being at Wally's World.
Survivors include the love of his life, Joan; children, Theresa (Rick) Dix, Chastity (Robert) Krueger, Shane Mikkelson, and Nathan (Tabitha) Wallenfang; grandchildren: Alicia and Rich Dix, Jacob Krueger, Devin DeJardin, J.D. and Isis Mikkelson, and Blake and Harper Wallenfang; siblings, Kathy (Dennis) Lee, Sue (Steve) LeDuc, Mary Diehl, Michael (Doreen) Wallenfang, and Barbara (Gon) Nguyen; special nephew, Tony (Lisa) VanLannen; close friends, Billy Swanson, Rod Truttman, and Davey O'Brien; favorite cousin, Ronnie Wallenfang; and many other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. A memorial service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00pm. *(Monroe Ave. is closed. Access to the funeral home is available off of Madison St., One Block West of Monroe Ave.)*
Wally's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jaslowski, Dr. Leenstra, all the staff at Green Bay Oncology, and Sam from Aurora VNA.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
