Gene Gibson, 93, Allouez, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
He was born on February 26, 1921, in Bay Settlement to the late Walter & Mable (Campbell) Gibson.
Gene was a graduate of East High School. He attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute where he trained and later taught courses in heating and air conditioning. Gene worked for Metal Service Company prior to starting his own business, Gibson Heating & Air Conditioning, in De Pere. In 1956, Gene relocated his business to Oneida Street in Ashwaubenon.
Gene served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. While enlisted, he was a pitcher on the Coast Guard Softball Team. When Gene returned to Green Bay, he played on several different softball leagues.
He was a member and elder of De Pere Presbyterian Church.
Gene enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing or spending time at the family property up north.
Survivors include four daughters, Gayle (Garry) Disch, Connie (Bob) Gouin, Jamie (Joe) Coffaro and Gwen (Jerry) Gibson; brother, Tom (Alice) Gibson; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 6:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Ted Tromble officiating. Full military honors will follow the funeral. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bay Area Humane Society in Gene's name.
