Gary E. Schettle

Gary E. Schettle , age 63, of Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his residence with his loving wife by his side. Gary was the son of the late William and Helen (Behling) Schettle.

Gary married Patrice M. Johnson on September 3, 1995. They were together over 40 years.

He graduated from Oshkosh West High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gary spent his life in furniture sales. While working in Green Bay, Gary worked for Snider & Daanen. He also worked for his father at Schettle Furniture Sales and eventually took over the business at the furniture store in Beaver, WI, before his illness.

Gary was an animal lover and shared many dogs with his wife over the years together. They raised them like children. He loved hunting and trout fishing on the Beaver Creek. He also enjoyed going to rummage sales to look for treasures and to chat with people. He had a great sense of humor, cracking jokes and being sarcastic up until the very end.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Schettle; siblings, Nancy (Michael) Miller, Ron Schettle, and Randy (Rebecca) Schettle; brother-in-law, Jeff (Patt Seleen) Johnson; nieces and nephews; and canine friends, Muffin, Bentley, Misha and Keera.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Schettle Jr.; in-laws, William & Doris Johnson; sister-in-law, Cyndi Johnson; and canine friends, Chester, Sassie, Bailey, Barney, Misty, Carmel, Finn, and Feather.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, Wisconsin. A Sharing of Memories will follow at 6:00 pm, with full military honors being rendered by the U.S. Marine Corps.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
