Gary Rogers

June 13, 1943 — January 10, 2018

Gary "J.R." Rogers, 74, of Green Bay, beloved husband of Dorothy (Piaskowski) Rogers, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the presence of his loving family.

He was born June 13, 1943 in Green Bay, WI, to the late Clarence and Beatrice (Friex) Rogers.

He attended East High School, and proudly served his country in Vietnam, serving with Company B, 15th Engineering Battalion, 9th Infantry Division, receiving a Purple Heart.

On August 28, 1971 he married Dorothy at St. Mary's of the Angels. He was employed by Procter & Gamble, working with his team on Machine 14F. His favorite pastime included fishing for perch, salmon, and trout with his sons and friends, and going to the casino playing penny slots with his wife, Dorothy.

J.R. is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children, Beth (Tony Strauss) Vanden Bush, Michelle (Larry) Rohr, Todd (Jenny) Rogers, and Tim (Nikki) Rogers. He also leaves his siblings: Yvonne Priewe, Jo Ann Danelski, and Joyce Darrt along with his grandchildren: Samantha, Emily, Nate, Abbey, Hannah, Ashley, Logan, Brody, and Kayden. J.R. also leaves his great grandchildren: Ashton, Rylee, Adyson and one on the way! He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Tammy, granddaughter Skyler, brother Lloyd and his beloved dog Fergie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15th from 9 AM - 10:45 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul's Church, 710 Baird Street, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in the Church with Military Honors to follow. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions has been entrusted with arrangements.

Gary was a prankster, and the hardest working, most loyal man we knew. He passed his love of fishing and animals onto his children and grandchildren. It can be said that no man is perfect, but to us, he was. This man saw the difficulties of war, the loss of a child, and years battling health issues - life challenged him, but he made the best life he could for his wife and family.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Unity Hospice, Bellin Cardiology, (N.P. Kirby Otto) and Katie at the VA Clinic in Green Bay.
