Gary Heimke

May 26, 1944 — April 30, 2024

Gary Edward Heimke
May 26, 1944 - April 30, 2024

Gary went to rest with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, April 30, at his home of 30 years in Oconto Falls, WI.

Gary was born May 26, 1944 in Oconto Falls, the second son of Gordon "Cork" and Marie (King) Heimke. Gary was very proud of his Naval service from 1962 until 1966. He served along side his older brother, Ron, in Jacksonville, Florida. Gary was also a proud member of the Oneida Nation and enjoyed spending time with his family at the pow-wows, gift shop, farmer's markets, museum and amongst other things on the Oneida Reservation.

In November 1993, he married the love of his life, Glori (Austin) Heimke, in Kenosha. He made sure to plan the wedding two weeks before the opening of gun deer season. For most of those years they both forgot their anniversary until the blaze orange came out.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Glori and his daughters Michelle, Jade and Angel. He will also be fondly remembered and mourned by his brothers Ron, Todd "Doc" and Roger "Eb" (Teri). He was close to his cousins on his mother's side, the King family. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart, and he loved telling stories about their childhood. To Jeanna, Julie, Wendy, Scott, Karly and J.T. -Please remember your Uncle loved you so much.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Yvonne Damp; two sister-in-laws, Mary Heimke and Sandy Heimke; and 10 aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at the Robert Cornelius VFW Post #7784, 2980 E Service Rd, Oneida, WI on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 4:30 p.m with the Oneida Nation Honor Guard. Gathering time will begin at 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The Oneida Hymn Singers will be singing from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please use this time as an opportunity for silent prayer and reflection. Military honors will be held at the end of the service with the Oneida Drummers following after.

A special thanks to Dr. Serio, his vascular surgeon and the HSHS wound care team in Oconto Falls.
