Gary L. Amsrud

October 9, 1942 — February 16, 2023

Gary Lee Amsrud, 80 of Green Bay died peacefully February 16, 2023, after a courageous battle with Dementia. He was born October 9, 1942 in Chicago Illinois to
the late Alfred and Betty (Harr) Amsrud. A few years later his family moved to Oshkosh Wisconsin where his blood turned Green and Gold and his love for the Packers was born.
After his enlistment in the Navy was complete, he went to work for his dad in construction and then went into maintenance at various companies throughout his career.
On December 17, 1998 he married his soulmate, Linda Luedtke, at the courthouse with both sisters (Judy's') as witnesses.
His humor was infectious as he always had a joke or comment on any situation. He enjoyed listening to Big Bands, watching westerns, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed going on picnics, road trips and watching sunsets with Linda.
Gary is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Jennifer Amsrud, step-sons Dan Jr (DJ) and Chris Deeg. Grandchildren: Tristian Amsrud, Tyler Seaman, Gavin and Cameron Rusch. Brother in-law Ron Luedtke, sister in-laws Judy Zarzynski and Brandi Luedtke He is also survived by nieces Donna (James) Bergman and Sue Trepanier, great nieces and nephew as well as a great-great niece and nephew.
Waiting for Gary in Heaven are his parents Al and Betty, daughter Jayna Rusch, brother Jeff Amsrud, sister Judy Vercauteren, brother-in-law Carl Luedtke, nephew Jeff Trepanier and niece Sara Miller and numerous aunts and uncles.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Newcomer funeral Home. 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, WI 54301 at 11:00 am with friends and family visiting from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Attendees are encouraged to share a story about Gary as this is a celebration of his life.
Entombment will be at a later date at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh on. As part of his celebration of life a visit to Trails End to enjoy some hotdogs will be after the entombment.
The Amsrud family would like to express a special thanks to Unity Hospice and Green Bay Health Services for all the special care Gary and his family have received while in their care. A special thank you to nurse Angie and CNA Nicki. You were a bright spot in his day. He was very fond of you both.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Unity Hospice in his name will be greatly appreciated.
