Frantisek Matthew Prokop, known as Frank, 78, passed into eternal rest at his home on June 28, 2013, after a lengthy battle with Lung Cancer. Originally from the Czech Republic, he had been a resident of Howard and Green Bay for 41 years. Frank was born on April 18, 1935, in Krumvir, Czech Republic to Josef Prokop and Anna Marie (Done) Prokopova. Frank married Debra Neumeyer on May 27, 1972. Frank attended Masaryk University In Liberec, Czech Republic, UW Milwaukee and UWGB.
He served in the Army in his native Czechoslovakia. He was interested in history and world affairs and spoke 4 languages. Frank enjoyed fishing, gardening, travel, and was an avid Packer fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He worked at St. Mary's Hospital and Amplas Inc. before his retirement.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Debra; son, Joseph (Erin) and their children Matthew and Madeleine; daughter, Kayya (Russ) Nau and their daughter Ava; nieces and nephews in the Czech Republic; and his wife's family: Norbert and Elaine Neumeyer, Barbara (Thomas) Kiefer, Threse(Brent) Martin, Susan (Matthew) Vanniewenhoven all of Green Bay; brothers-in-law, James Neumeyer of Green Bay and Michael Neumeyer of Adelanto,California; sister-in-law, Laura Neumeyer; and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by 23 international students from around the world who have lived with Frank and his family while they studied and attended school in Green Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Josef and Vladimer from the Czech Republic and brothers-in-law, David and Dennis Neumeyer.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, from 4:00pm until the time of the memorial service at 6:30pm.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
