Francis J. "Fran" VanDenBusch, age 88, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Town of Humboldt, June 14, 1934, son of the late Theodore and Bernadine (Daul) VanDenBusch and was a graduate of Green Bay East High School.
Fran enlisted in the US Navy in 1956 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1957. He married Elizabeth Phillips, July 27, 1957 and they shared 65 years of marriage. Fran worked at Paper Converting Machine Co. for 42 years until his retirement.
Fran enjoyed camping, woodworking and deer hunting. He was also an avid bowler, known as "Fuzzy" amongst his fellow bowlers.
Francis is survived by his wife, Betty; 6 children: John (Karen), Ellen Freward, Kathy (Mitch) Barrette, Brian (Toni), Cheryl McCandless and Andrew; 13 grandchildren: Josh (Sara), Jeremiah, Brandon, Tracie, Tyler, Jon Michael, Jacob, Nick, Greg, Katie, Kyle and Alex; 2 great-granddaughters, Ava and Adysin and a great-step-grandson, Archer.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Theresa, a grandson, Christopher and his brother, Richard.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, November 4, 2022 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM with full military honors. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
