Francis "Frank - Bud" Hedstrom, age 93, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, with family at his side.
Frank was born to Elmer and Linda (Russart) Hedstrom on April 18, 1931, in Green Bay. He attended East High School - class of 1949. He served 3 years in Korea, where he was a Locomotive Engineer on the train carrying thousands of North Korean POWs to Freedom Bridge at Panmunjom in exchange for South Korean POWs.
Frank married Doris Jacques on January 21, 1956, at St. Phillips Church. He worked for various railroads in four states, mainly the Milwaukee Railroad. His hobby was spending leisure time at and working on his cottage. He chopped firewood until age 91.
Frank is survived by his wife, Doris, their sons; David and Carl (Sherrie), their daughters; Paula Price and Merry Knoke, their grandchildren; Amanda (Buddy) Spangler, Ashlyn (Alex Petzold) Tahlier, Emilie Price, Ciara Hedstrom, Patrick Knoke, their great-grandson Dale Spangler, and a great-granddaughter on the way, his sisters in law; LaVerne Hedstrom and Donna Jacques. Frank is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Arthur and Robert (Kay, Yvonne), sisters; Margaret (Al) Parmentier and Kathryn (Al) Janelle, eldest grandson Nicholas Price, son-in-law Paul Knoke, and his lifelong friends; Joan and Ralph Dowske, Ron and Nancy Bandurski, and Warren Nelson. He is also proceeded by Doris' family; Orville and Lillian Jacques, Donna (George) Schuelke, Beverly Jacques, Donald Jacques, Kenneth Jacques, Audrey (Al) Cappelle.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay). The Funeral Service to follow at 1:30 pm at Newcomer, with Deacon Greg Rotherham officiating and Military Honors for presentation of the flag, followed by burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
