Evelyn Bottger Newman, age 90, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was born in Iron Mountain, MI on January 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Otto and Marion (Fontecchio) Bottger. Evelyn grew up in Upper Michigan in the city of Crystal Falls and attended local schools.
She went on to attend Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo where she received a BA degree in teaching. Evelyn would go on to teach in the Green Bay Public School System for over 30 years. She and her husband Phil were past members of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay.
Evelyn is survived by a brother, William (Pat) Bottger of Onalaska, WI, three nieces, Cindy (Joey) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia (Stephen) Horton of La Crosse, WI, Susan (Larry) Atwell of Las Vegas, NV and one nephew Joseph (Terri) Bottger of Grove City, OH. She also leaves three step-children: Jeananne (Ron) Kelly of Stevens Point, WI, Robert (Connie) Newman and Cindy Newman, all of Albuquerque, NM. In addition she leaves two cousins Gerald (Donna) Witter of Waukegan, IL and Robert (Mary) Witter of Iron Mountain, MI, four grandchildren and many other special relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Philip.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, July 31st, 2015 at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHEDRAL (140 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay, WI). Friends and relatives may call from 10 to 10:45 AM. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum.
