Emroy "Roy" Skenandore, age 79, of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, October 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 5, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI, son of the late James and Meriam (Hill) Skenandore.
Roy graduated from Custer High School, Milwaukee, WI, Class of 1960. "Victory, victory for Custer High!" He continued his education at UW-Milwaukee, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business. After earning his degree, he was commissioned into the US Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge.
Roy married Alice Hall in Las Vegas in 1977. After being blessed with their 6 children, Roy and Alice were called back to Oneida to assist with the new Oneida Casino, where Roy became the AGM Profits. Roy was a proud member of the Oneida Nation and was a dedicated employee of the casino, retiring after over 20 years of service. Alice is grateful to Roy for supporting her pursuit of home-birth midwifery and later standing with her to found Wise Women Gathering Place.
The late, great Willie Munson appointed Roy as the greatest Native American pool player of all time! 'Chief Running Balls' was victorious in his final tournament at the White Eagle Open, two days before he passed. Cheering on the Packers was one of his favorite past times. He was a proud grandpa and loved attending his grandkids' activities and events. Roy loved being with family and would never turn down a free meal, especially his favorite-Oneida Corn Soup. Any place you found Roy, you could always find his favorite companion, Berry!
Emroy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alice; his 6 children and their spouses: Ray Skenandore, Steven & Amanda Skenandore, Dan & Tonia Skenandore, Berry Skenandore, Clarissa Skenandore and Eddy-Joe & Brittany Skenandore and 6 grandchildren: Alexis, Alysa, Ava, Aiden, Blake, and Elly Skenandore. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 3 siblings: James, Glen "Curt", and Winona.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, October 6 from 1 to 3 PM. A funeral service will follow at 3 PM with full military honors. To leave an online condolence for the family, please visit www.NewcomerGreenBay.com.
