Emma Koenig, age 91, of Cecil, WI, formerly of Gillett, WI, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016. She was born May 17, 1924 in Gillett, WI, daughter of the late Herman and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Giese) Yaeger and graduated from Gillett High School in 1942.
Emma married Orland S. Koenig, July 22, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gillett and together they shared 66 loving years of marriage before Orland passed in 2011. Emma and Orland farmed in the Gillett area until the late 1960's after which they moved to Cecil, WI.
Emma was a lifetime member of Immanual Lutheran Church (now Faith United Church) of Gillett, WI where she served on the Mission and Home Finance Committees for several years and taught Sunday School. Her faith was so dear to her heart.
Emma enjoyed being outdoors gardening and she loved animals and hosting parties at her home. She was most fond of spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her fun and outgoing personality will be dearly missed.
Emma is survived by her sons, Orland C. (Betty) Koenig of De Pere, WI and Wayne Koenig of Cecil, WI; 6 grandchildren: Mike, Brian (Megan), Tanya (special friend, Brian), Mary Lynn (Shannon), Michelle and Roberta; 7 great-grandchildren: Tyler and Derek, Addison and Gavin and Justin, Cheyenne and Wesley; son-in-law, Gerald Meier.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Romaine Meier and an infant sister.
Friends and relatives may call at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, (340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay) on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM. Visitation will continue, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at NICOLET MEMORIAL GARDENS AND CHAPEL MAUSOLEUM (2770 Bay Settlement Road, Green Bay) from 1 PM to 1:45 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM. Entombment will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Emma's name.
