Elton Forrest "Frosty" Clothier passed away peacefully at home early on Saturday morning, May 15th. After a long illness, he is at rest with the Lord.
Frosty was born on April 16th, 1932 to Irene (Nault) and Dr. Elton Clothier. As a young man he served in the Army for two years. He attended the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. On May 16, 1959, he married Janis Jirikowic in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The couple settled in Green Bay and Frosty began his pharmacy practice. They were blessed with three sons: Michael in 1961, Steven in 1965, and Robert in 1971. Frosty took ownership of Central Pharmacy in Green Bay in 1972 and remained owner until his "retirement" twenty-two years later. He continued to work part time, most recently at the Oneida Health Center, a position he thoroughly enjoyed.
In addition to his 60+ year career in pharmacy, Frosty was a charter member of St. Jude Parish, serving on its school board and as president of the Athletic Club. He was president of the Brown County Pharmacist's Society and a member of the Wisconsin Pharmacy Association. Frosty volunteered with the Green Bay Board of Health for 12 years and assisted with distributing the critical Salk polio vaccine. He was also president of the Green Bay Nursery School.
Besides a lifetime of service to his community and profession, Frosty was always there for his family and helped Janis raise their sons to be caring and successful men as well. He became grandfather to four and great-grandfather to one, and will be remembered by his family as kind, loving, generous, and fun.
Frosty was a friend to so many, from dear friends he had for years to folks he just happened to meet. His warm smile and kind words will be missed by friends and family alike.
He is preceded in death by his father Elton Clothier, mother Irene Nault Clothier Booth, stepfather Harold Booth, and sister Carole Ann Clothier.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janis; his three sons Michael (Jeanne), Steven (Angie), and Robert (Sharon); grandchildren Alexander, Morgen, Will, and Henry; and great-grandson Milo. He is also survived by his brother Alan (Donna) Clothier, sister Marianne (Don) Williams, sister Suzanne Jonas, brother-in-law Jackie (Mary) Jirikowic, sister-in-law Joann Hannan and their extended families.
Frosty's good life touched many other lives, and his family is grateful for his peaceful passing. The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice for helping to meet Frosty's wishes and for their compassionate care, especially Sam, Cindy, Sarah, and Marie. Thanks also to all the dedicated staff at Green Bay Oncology especially Dr. Groteluschen and Dr. Jaslowski. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to Unity Hospice.
