With heavy hearts that we lost our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Elmer P. Westphal left us to meet Jesus on Thursday August 4, 2022. He was born to Elmer Jr. and Ann Westphal March 17, 1946. Elmer graduated from Suring High School in 1965. He went on to serve our country until 1968 in the Army during the Vietnam War. His time in the service was something he was very proud of. He was united in marriage to Ileen Madison on May 28, 1966. They celebrated 56 years together this past spring.
Elmer retired from Procter-Gamble after 30 years employment and then worked for NPS for 10 years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Ileen, children: Patti (Shawn) Butterfield, Patrick Westphal, grandchildren: Christopher (Kim) Butterfield, Neisa (Nell) Butterfield, Bradley (Teashiana) Butterfield, Travis Crawford, Brittany Westphal, Kayla Westphal, Seth Westphal, Jake, Erica, Jenna Alexander; great-grandchildren: Leighton and Celia Butterfield, Bradley Jr. Butterfield, Nyla Turner, Diante, Deanna, and Donte Pippen, and baby Westphal on the way. He is also survived by siblings: Mary Krause, Marie Wolf, Linda Mauritz, John (Charlotte) Westphal, Bill Westphal, Nora (Walter) Westphal, and Steve Westphal; brothers-in-law: Dick (Kathi) Madison, Len (Eunice) Madison, and Bill (Gail) Madison, and sisters-in-law: Denise Madison and Karen Westphal; special god-children: Steven Westphal, Paul Westphal, Cheyanna Westphal, Tony Westphal, further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law: Hildure and Frieda Madison, brothers-in-law, Bernard Madison, Gene Krause, Paul Wolf, and Larry Mauritz.
Friends and family may visit at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the time of service at 7:00 pm.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Pastor Christman, Pastor Malme, 7th Floor team at St. Vincent's Hospital, Dr. Hoppe and Dr. Gala for all their kindness, comfort, and support that was given to Elmer and the family.
