It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Herlache, at the age of 87. She passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023 at the JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, Illinois. She was born on February 10, 1936 to Henry and Elizabeth (Robinson) Rahr in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She attended the St. Joseph's Academy in Green Bay and graduated in 1954. After graduating, she worked at the Channel 5 television station in Green Bay.
On July 7, 1959, Betty married the love of her life, the late Ward Joseph Herlache, whom she met after high school. They were married for 53 years and raised two children together. She was a loving and caring mother who always put her family first. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was always there to provide support and guidance whenever it was needed.
Betty is survived by her son, Ward Andrew Herlache; daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Joseph) Blatz, and their children Andrew (Mary), Bradley, and Emma Blatz; and two great-grandchildren Bryson and Colette Blatz. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Daniel Ward Blatz; brother, Dr. Henry C. (Mary) Rahr; and close cousin, Patricia A. (Andrew) Tweet.
In her free time, Betty loved many activities including golf, tennis, bridge, aerobics, socializing with friends, and spending time with her family. She could frequently be seen attending her grandchildren's basketball games, soccer matches, and swim meets. With her true love Ward, she enjoyed their time as snowbirds at their Florida condominium for over 20 years.
Throughout her life, Betty touched the lives of countless people with her kindness, generosity, and snappy wit. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to thank the phenomenal staff at JourneyCare Hospice who lovingly cared for her during the last two weeks of her life. In addition, many thanks to the wonderful staff at The Clarendale of Algonquin who were her supportive and compassionate caregivers during the past 5 years.
