Elizabeth Louise Gunther, 86, of Oshkosh, WI, passed peacefully into heaven on March 11, 2016 from Riverside Hospital in Waupaca. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Franklin Gunther.
She was born on September 16, 1929 in Berwyn, Illinois to the late Giovanni and Clara Meschi.
Elizabeth was a member of the Women's Club at St. Barbara's Church. She will be remembered as a happy and devoted mother, caring for her children as a young widow. Elizabeth loved children and was exceptionally kind to them. She enjoyed spending time with young people and they loved being near her. Elizabeth was an Administrative Secretary employed by GM Electromotive in McCook, IL., Consolidated Foods in Chicago, IL., and Motorola Defense in Scottsdale, AZ. She also was an editor for the Carmelite Sword Magazine working for Fr. Kevin Finbar Shanley at Aylesford. Elizabeth loved living in the Arizona Desert in the towns of Scottsdale and Tucson.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, Gregory Gunther of Oshkosh, WI., and Ralph (Lavergne) Gunther of Wautoma, WI. In addition to her 4 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; she also leaves her siblings: Esther Phillips, Eleanor Duka, Dorothy Duranty, Delores Clinkert, John Meschi, Mary Pasekel, Charles Meschi, and Deane Meschi, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth is also survived by her sister-in-law Marie Paskvan. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Patricia Hitzman, Richard Meschi, and Joseph Meschi.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, IL. In lieu of flowers a contribution to Betty's Burial Fund would be appreciated. The Newcomer Funeral Home of Green Bay has been entrusted with arrangements. Elizabeth was a very happy and gracious person to all who knew her.
