Eleanore T. Swoboda, age 92, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 4, 2016. She was born September 24, 1923 in Erfurt, Germany, daughter of the late Theo and Margarete (Kramer) Schlote.
Eleanore met Christoph L. Swoboda, after WWII and they were married in 1947. Eleanore and Christoph welcomed 3 boys while in Germany. The couple were teachers in Germany. They moved to Green Bay in 1959, after which they welcomed their fourth son, Peter. Eleanore and Christoph enjoyed 30 loving years of marriage before Christoph preceded Eleanore in death in 1977.
Eleanore held several positions in her life, including working for Otto Kaap at the original Kaap's candy store as well as a ward clerk at St. Vincent Hospital later on in her life. Eleanore's most important job was being a loving mother to her four boys. She was an active member of St. Willebrord Parish. Her family and faith were most dear to her heart. She enjoyed several hobbies including playing cards and solving crosswords and she was an amazing cook.
Eleanore is survived by her sons, Thomas Christian (Joyce) Swoboda of Madison, WI and Matthias William (Theresa "Terri") Swoboda of Green Bay; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie and Christine Swoboda and their mother, Sandra Swoboda; daughter-in-law, Karolyn and relatives in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Stephen George Swoboda and Peter Francis Swoboda.
Friends and relatives may call at ST. WILLEBRORD PARISH, (209 S. Adams St., Green Bay), Friday, March 18, 2016 from 9 to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM.
Eleanore's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs at Bishop's Court, Angelus Village and Unity Hospice for their loving care of Eleanore. Eleanore will be especially missed by special friends, Mary Pat Cumps, Mary Ann Watson, Shirley,Noreen, Chris, Jeanne and Jurgen and Tim and Karen .
