Eleanore H. Seifert

August 9, 1919 — January 4, 2014

Eleanore H. Seifert, 94, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Woodside Manor. She was born on August 9, 1919, in the Town of West Kewaunee to Marvin and Caroline (Schwartz) Wiese. After her mother died when she was about two years of age, she went to live with Albert and Wilhemina Schoessow and their four daughters, Hilda Krohn, Lillian Pechman, Mable Dahlke and Florence Pfile Gigstead. She lived there until she graduated from high school. After high school, she attended Door Kewaunee Normal School and began teaching at the age of 19 in various schools with one room and having eight grades. She went on later to UW-Oshkosh and obtained her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree.

On May 20, 1942, she married Erwin C. Seifert. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2002. They farmed in the Town of Humboldt until 1970 when their son, Morris and his wife, Linda took over the farm and they moved to the Village of Luxemburg. Later they moved to Green Bay where they resided until shortly after Erwin's death.

Eleanore Seifert taught school in various schools in Kewaunee County, and then at Henrysville School, Wilson School, Wequiock School, Roosevelt School and later as a reading specialist with the Green Bay Public School District until she retired. During her retirement she was a volunteer driver for the Brown County Department of Social Services. She was an expert in crocheting afghans and many people were the recipient of her handiwork. Eleanore was very active during her entire life in the West Kewaunee Methodist Church, playing the organ and teaching the adult Sunday School Class. She was also active in the Brown County Retired Teacher's Association.

Eleanore is survived by five children, 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Surviving are Karen (Kenneth) Allen of Green Bay, WI, Wayne (Judy) Seifert of White Heath, IL, Morris (Linda) Seifert of Freedom, WI, Keith (Tarra) Seifert and Thomas (Alice) Seifert both of De Pere, WI.

Grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Kathleen (Rick) Jadin; Kenneth (Karla) Allen Jr., and children, Tyler Allen and Sara Johns; Karl (Vicki) Allen and children, Bryce, Brayden and Aubrey; Keith (Shelley) Allen and daughters, Keeley and Presley; Bonnie (Michael) Willems and daughter, Amber; Lisa (Doug) Koerner and son, Joshua; Robert (Juanita) Allen; Christine (Jeff) Parmley and daughters, Rachel and Sarah; David (Sara) Seifert and daughters, Evelyn and Claire; Amy (Christopher) Tostrup and children, Austin and Jersey; Steve (Katie) Seifert and daughters, Stella and Scarlett; William (Heather) Seifert and daughter Elliette; and Madalyn and Emily Seifert.

Eleanore is further survived by the Wilfred Wiese family. They were so special to her and they all continued to include Eleanore in their lives and she just loved being a part of that family. She is also survived by her special nieces, Nancy Haskell and Donna Tess.

Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin; her brother, Wilfred (Mary Mae) Wiese; a grandson, Jeffrey Allen; nephews, Richard, Paul and Daniel Wiese; along with a sister-in-law, Lisette (Irvin) Wegner.
