Eleanore C. Barber, 92, was called home on Monday, March 13, 2023, after a short illness.
Eleanore was born, August 5 1930 in St. Croix Falls, WI to Floyd and Bertha (Voge) Davison. She graduated from St. Croix Falls Central High School in the Class of 1948. Soon after, she moved to Seattle, Washington in order to live and work with her sister, Bernice. While in Seattle she met a man on a blind date. They got along well and on December 5 1953, she married Norman Lee Barber. They raised 3 sons: Gary, Jeff and Mark.
Eleanore loved reading, circus peanuts, bird watching, jigsaw and word-search puzzles, and Bing Crosby. Not necessarily in that order. She greatly enjoyed her weekly Scrabble games with family friend, Jeff Main. She confided to her son, Gary, that she thought that Mr. Main was letting her win two out of three games, but she wasn't going to complain. Well into her 90's she walked a mile a day through the halls of her apartment building. She was known as a gentle and kind woman who cherished her family and all her friends at Nicolet Terrace.
Eleanore was preceded on her journey by her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, her husband, Norman, her son, Mark, and her daughter-in-law, Lori.
She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife B.J.; her granddaughter, Angelique, (Toby Warden); her great-granddaughters, Eavin and Autumn; her son, Jeff; grandson, Derek and his wife Devan; as well as a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, all across America.
Donations to the American Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated by the family.
The Celebration of Eleanore's life will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 2-4PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, WI 54301.
