Edward Goodreau

January 24, 1945 — January 12, 2022

Edward "Joe" Goodreau, 76, previously of Escanaba, MI passed away on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022 surrounded by his family at the Unity Hospice Center. He was born on January 24th, 1945 to the late Edward and Esther (Trentin) Goodreau in Gladstone, MI.

Joe graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1963. Joe moved around many times while working as an electrician and working in construction. He moved his family back to Escanaba where he worked for and retired from Mead Paper Company after more than 30 years of employment.

On February 20th, 1965 Joe married Nancy Linzmaier in Bakerville, WI. Together they had two daughters, Mary and Kris.

Joe was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral of Green Bay, WI. He spent many hours volunteering for the church.

Joe's biggest passion in life was rebuilding and restoring cars. He started at a young age when he bought his first car, a model A, at 16. No matter the make, model, or year, he enjoyed the challenge of them all. Joe and his friends were the definition of car enthusiasts including going to car shows, receiving awards for his work and spending any free time he had in the garage. Along with working on cars, he loved watching NASCAR on TV. He was able to work on a pit crew for an Escanaba race team. Joe passed on his love for all things with wheels and engines to his grandchildren.

Along with his passion for cars, Joe enjoyed music, especially 50's and 60's rock and roll. Buddy Holly was his favorite musician. Joe was a fantastic bowler and played on the Mead softball team for many years. He was a lover of all animals.

Joe is survived by his two daughters, Mary (Shannon Dubord) Ross-Dubord and Kris (Wayne) Thayer; grandson Riley Ross; granddaughters, Bella and Emily Thayer; life partner Kathy Emmel; sisters, Jean Gruell and Kay (Rod) Ewert; sister-in-law Bev Goodreau; along with many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Along with his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brother Don Goodreau; brother-in-law Jerome Gruell and many of his car enthusiast friends.

Visitation for Joe will be held on Monday, January 17th, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral (140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301) from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum.
