Duane “Snake” R. Pierce passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Green Bay on August 12th, 1953 to the late Russell and Florence Pierce.
Snake proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy Reserve from 1972-1978. While on active duty, he married his beloved wife Dolores Harper Rowles on March 25th, 1975 in San Diego, CA. He will be remembered most for his lifelong service as a veteran’s advocate through his numerous veteran groups. He was especially proud of his accomplishments with his Rolling Thunder group and was very active in Vietnam Veterans 224 and AMVETS Post 57. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle all over the Midwest with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores “Dee Dee” A. Pierce; special goddaughter, Brittany Bastian; Sister-in-law Lori Irvin (Fred); Stepson, George Rowles. He was preceded in death by his parents and heavenly daughter, Tammy.
He had MANY special friends in his life. A huge thank you to the nurses and staff at Bellin Hospital and the Bellin Cancer Team. They were like family. A special thank you to friends Ed and Leon for their generous help through it all.
Friends and Family will gather Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at Nicolet Memorial Gardens Chapel, 2770 Bay Settlement Rd for visitation from 9:00am-11:00am. Service and burial, with military honors by VVA 224 and Rolling Thunder, will follow. A celebration of life will take place at Duck Creek Pub at the VFW Howard afterwards. Arrangements were made by Newcomer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in Dolores’ name.
