Duane Janik

Duane Janik, age 76, of Lena, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Meng Residence in De Pere, with his wife at his side. He was born June 29, 1948 in Oconto Falls, WI, son of the late Edward and Esther (Bogsted) Janik and was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School, Class of 1966.

After high school, Duane enlisted with the Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Faye Umentum, July 13,1968 in Oconto Falls. They shared 56 blessed years as husband and wife, welcoming 2 children. Duane was a talented carpenter and held various positions, most recently overseeing job sites for several area home building companies.

Duane was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. After retirement, he and Faye had close friend groups that traveled around the area restaurants for lunch and dinner several times a week. His hobby was building things to donate to local charities and often helped family and friends with their projects. 

Duane is survived by his wife, Faye; his children, Tracy (Lance Pawlak) Johnson and Darren Janik; 4 grandchildren: Derek Janik, Alyssa (Austin) Breier, Austin Johnson and Tessa (Mitchell) Greiling and 3 great-granchildren: Maci and Owen Breier and Cayde Greiling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian (Carl) Brandt.

A celebration of Duane's life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Unity Hospice in Duane's name are appreciated.
