Dr. James V. Petersen, age 84, of Green Bay, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 28, 1932 in Green Bay, son of the late George and Marie (Mostedt) Petersen and was a graduate of Green Bay West High School.
Dr. Petersen earned his Doctorate Degree from Marquette University. He enlisted in the US Air Force where he served as a military dentist, stationed in Montana. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1959, Jim opened his dental practice in Green Bay. Dr. Petersen married Wilhelmina "Willy" Cabout in Green Bay, May 27, 1972 and together they shared 44 loving years of marriage and raised 2 daughters.
Jim was an avid woodworker and enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cheering on his Green Bay Packers. His positive outlook on life was an inspiration to his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and brother and a proud dad and grandpa "Opa" to August James. Jim's family will dearly miss his sense of humor and kind, giving heart.
James is survived by his wife, Willy; daughters, Erika (Don) Schoen and Marsha (Brian) Dombroski; grandson, August James Schoen and a sister, JoAnn Byrne.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 10 to 11:45 AM. A memorial service will follow at 12 NOON with Leland Marks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice in Jim's honor.
