Douglas A. Kohlmeyer, age 60, of Suamico, was called home, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 14, 1960 in Huron, South Dakota, son of the late Leonard Kohlmeyer Sr. and Beverly (Schmaal) Kohlmeyer.
Doug was an OTR Truck Driver for his entire career that spanned over 30 years, currently for KI. He married Jean Hock, November 13, 1992 in Eau Claire and they shared 28 loving years together as husband and wife, raising their blended family.
Doug was famous for his big hugs, known fondly as "Doug Hugs." He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and was fortunate to spend countless hours playing with them. The family enjoyed many memorable vacations and road trips together. He was a man of strong faith and a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church, Pulaski.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Jean; his children: Summer (RJ) Tilleman, Samara (Andy) Frelich, Kelsie Kohlmeyer, Kaleb Kohlmeyer and Rylie (Matthew) Sell; 7 grandchildren: Aryan (Andres) Jimenez Medrano, Peyton, Toby, Harley, Lilly, Charlotte and Sawyer; a great-grandson, Liam; his mother, Beverly Kohlmeyer; 3 siblings: Leonard (Kesakulnee "Addy") Kohlmeyer Jr., Cheryl (Richey) Schriever and Marcel (Debbie) Kohlmeyer; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Kohlmeyer Sr. and his sister, Karla Kohlmeyer.
Visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (910 S. St. Augustine St., Pulaski, WI), Friday, June 18, 2021 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Doug's family will like to extend their gratitude to Unity Hospice, the Suamico Fire Dept (for wedding day assistance), Green Bay Oncology and the care providers at St. Vincent and St. Mary's Hospital for their kindness, care and compassion. Thank you, as well, to our church family at St. John Lutheran Church for their support and prayers.
