Green Bay – Dorothy M. Krahn, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Woodside Lutheran Home in Green Bay.
She was born on February 9, 1929 to Theodore and Anna Mielke in Green Bay. Dorothy grew up in Green Bay and graduated from East High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Donald Leahy on August 11, 1951 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. They made their life together in Green Bay and they later purchased and renovated a farmhouse in Pulaski, WI. They were married for 40 years prior to Donald's death in 1991. Dorothy was united in marriage to George William Krahn (Bill) on May 3, 1995 They made their home in Kelly Lake, WI. They were married for 22 years until Bill's death in 2017.
Dorothy worked as a secretary for many years at H & R Paper in Green Bay and later worked at The Brown County Landfill as a Scale Operator. She was active in the Green Bay Community Theater for many years. She was a very skilled theatrical make-up artist. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit many countries. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage while watching the sunset over Kelly Lake. She loved decorating her homes and watching classic movies. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a very caring and loving mom, grandma and great grandma. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Her faith was very important to her and she spent many hours in bible study discussions with her daughter, Kris.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: Kristine (Donald) Clark of Littleton, CO, Pete Leahy of Green Bay and Mark (Gina) Leahy of Madison, WI; 4 Grandchildren: Sarah (John) Johnson of Sedalia, CO; Robin (Kevin) Schafer of Lakewood, CO; Alyssa Leahy of Madison, WI and Kelsey Leahy of Des Moines, IA. 5 great grandchildren; Ava, Jack, Maggie, Edward, Rebecca Johnson of Sedalia, CO. and her beloved dog, Benji. She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Anna Mielke; her husband Donald Leahy, her husband Bill Krahn and great granddaughter Fjola Johnson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodside Lutheran Home and extend a very special thank you to Kim Goddard who was the devoted care giver for Dorothy and Bill for several years, allowing them to stay in their home at Kelly Lake as long as possible.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home in Green Bay. Friends may call from 9 am – 11 am.
