GREEN BAY - Dorothy J. Hovde, 85, longtime resident of Allouez, was called home to heaven, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born on January 18, 1931 in Chicago, daughter of the late Jack and Florence (Gunderson) Bayer. She married Leland Hovde of Viola, WI, September 17, 1949. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Bellin Hospital for 18 years. She loved making afghans for family, friends and church bazaars.
Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her sons: Robert (Cindy) Hovde of Miami, FL, and Randy (Leigh Ann) Hovde of Green Bay. She also leaves a brother, David (Joan) Bayer of Ohio, along with 8 grandchildren: Michelle (Paul) Babcock, Elisabeth Hovde, Steven (Jessica) Hovde, Kristin (Jeff) Flary, Katie (Ben) Wilhelm, Christopher Hovde, Dc. Matthew Hovde, and Megan Hovde in addition to 8 great grandchildren: Mickalyn, Collin, Dominick, Alexys, Charlie, Max, Adeline, and Jack. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Leland Hovde, along with 3 sons, Raymond, Ronald, and Richard Hovde, 2 daughters, Linda Pohlman, and Diane Hovde. She is also preceded by a brother, Donald Bayer, and 4 sisters, Sue, Diane, Elaine and Doris.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10th from 4 - 8 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM with Dc. Matthew Hovde officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 11th at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish. Those attending Mass may meet directly at the Church. Interment will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, Mark and Mary at Pulmonary Rehab, and Dr. Potts for the wonderful care given to Dorothy.
