Doris Ann Gilbert, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, passed away April 11, 2025. She was born to the late Sylvester and Laverne Schuh on July 30, 1937, in Milwaukee, WI, and married Eugene Gilbert, her husband for 62 years, in 1957.
Doris graduated from Appleton Senior High School in 1955. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish in Green Bay for almost 60 years. She loved spending time with her family, was a wonderful cook, and made the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookies! “Nanny and Bumpa” spent a lot of time cheering on their grandchildren at soccer games, baseball games, choir concerts, swim meets, dance recitals, plays, and horse shows. She was a generous soul who volunteered for many years at both St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice. She had many great friendships. Later in life, she would meet friends nearly every day for morning coffee and again for lunch. We called them the “McDonalds Girls” and they were treasured people in our Mom’s life.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Gene, and her brother, Don Schuh. She is survived by her four children: Kari (Mark) Waselchuk, Jennifer Crabb, Meg Gilbert (Jeff Vandersteen), and Paul Gilbert (Stephanie Wallace); eight grandchildren: Emily (Brandon) Becker, Andy (Maria) Waselchuk, Sam Crabb, Max (Aubrey) Crabb, Anna (Will) Hanson, Jack Pendleton, Kate (Pat) Geraghty, and Lily Gilbert; and three great-grandchildren: Beau and Briggs Becker, and Luna Crabb. She is also survived by her three amazing sisters: Jan (Ron) Conrad, Connie (Tom) Latimer, Lisa (Eric) Kramer, two loving sisters-in-law, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, May 3 for Mass at 11:00 am. Visitation before Mass at 10:00 am. St Bernard’s Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay, WI 54302.
