Dora B. Mitchell

June 5, 1923 — October 1, 2024

Dora B. Mitchell, 101, of De Pere, passed into Eternal Life on October 1, 2024; met by her Lord and Savior and loving husband of 63 years. Dora was born on June 5, 1923 on a farm near Morley, Michigan daughter of the late, Roy and Thelma (Priest) Stilson. She graduated from Morley High School in 1941. Her classmate and husband to be, Stan Mitchell, were married in September 1942, in the same house she was born in. On the following week they were hired by the Willow Run Bomber Plant who were making B24 Bombers for World War II. This was near Ypsilanti, Michigan. Dora learned to solder fuse boxes for the plane. Then transferred to Rivets on the planes wing. Her husband was hired as a Fireman.

Dora and her husband raised three beautiful children, two sons and one daughter. Her first son, Larry was born while Stan was serving in the Army in World War II and didn't see his son for the first 6 months.

After the war years, while seeking for a job they moved many places. Always seeking out a church to go to and serve as needed. Dora lived a life of faith as did her husband who worked 34 years for the State of Michigan and Pastored a Church on weekends in Dollar Bay where he was ordained. Dora worked at many jobs and never had one she didn't like: organist, teacher, school bus driver, she drove logging trucks for 6 years and 20 years part time at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

After 63 years of exciting and great marriage, her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. They decided to move to Green Bay where the doctors were and their daughter Cindy lived as she was a registered nurse and a great help. Stan lived 20 years with Parkinson's before going home to be with his Lord and Savior. They were members of Bethel Baptist Church in Green Bay and served with joy as health permitted.

Dora is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Brad) Lenss, one grandson, Chad (Miriam) Mitchell and their children: Emily and James, two additional grandsons: Matthew (Laura) Lenss and Adam (Kelsey) Lenss, 7 great-grandchildren, one brother, Gerald (Marlene) Stilson, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, great husband of 63 years, 2 sons: Larry and Gregory Mitchell, 3 sisters: Kathleen Mitchell, Jylene Lewis, and Marilyn Elzinga.

The family would like to thank all the great Pastors and friends of our church for prayers and care they gave her, and all her neighbors especially Joyce and Jeanie, where she lived in her apartment for many years.

Dora's wishes were no service until next spring with burial of the urn to take place at Stanwood Austin Cemetery by her beloved husband and beautiful sons, Larry and Gregory.

She said to be sure to tell everyone, " I'm not gone, Just changed my address!"

In Lieu of flowers she would like memorials given to Gideon's International PO Box 958 Green Bay, 54305 or by way of Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Libal Street Green Bay, WI 54301
