Donna L. Drabes, 83, of Green Bay, WI., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021. She was born on August 14, 1937 to the late Leo and Genevieve (Destiche) Verhaagh.
Donna graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1955 in Green Bay. Her first job right after high school was as a bookkeeper for the Green Bay Press Gazette.
She went on to become a paralegal for attorney Robert J. Parins for roughly ten years.
On January 20, 1962 Donna married the love of her life, William "Bill" Drabes at St. John the Baptist Church in Howard. Together they had three children. Donna took time away from her career to care and raise her family.
In 1977, Donna and her family moved to Sturgeon Bay. During that time, Donna was a paralegal for Toft & Ross Law Firm until they moved back to Green Bay in 1988.
Upon their return to Green Bay, Donna worked as a receptionist for Ronald Stenland at Central Consulting Engineers until her retirement in 1998.
Donna spent a lot of time sewing, knitting and baking. She loved taking care of her home and those that were in it, especially with her food. In her earlier years, Donna and her husband spent time bowling and golfing together.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bill Drabes; three children: Paul Drabes, Linda Clarke and Kathleen (Mitchell) Magnin; grandson Taylor Clarke; brother David Verhaagh and her sister Mary Verhaagh. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Paul, Dennis and Peter Verhaagh; along with her son-in-law William Clarke.
Visitation for Donna will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Newcomer- Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301) from 12:00 PM (NOON) - 2:00 PM. A Prayer Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora At Home Hospice, the nursing staff at Aurora Baycare Medical Center and Dr. Patel for all of the care and compassion given to Donna. It is truly appreciated.
