Donna Catherine (Andrus) Fencl, 82, Lakewood resident, died peacefully on August 30, 2015. She was born April 19, 1933 in El Centro California, daughter of James and Kay Andrus of Two Rivers, WI.
Donna graduated from Two Rivers High School in 1951 and attended UWGB. She married her loving husband of 64 years, Eugene, and they eventually settled in Green Bay to raise their four children before heading up north to Silver Cliff and Lakewood to enjoy hunting, fishing and outdoor life. Donna was a resident of Lakewood Assisted Living for the last several years and was well cared for by supportive staff, her devoted husband and surrounding family and friends, and her cat, Kali.
She was employed in various positions throughout her working career, including nurse's aide at Two Rivers Memorial Hospital and more recently, guidance and office secretary positions for the Green Bay School District for 21 years. She earned her life masters in bridge and thoroughly enjoyed traveling with her husband and daughter and son-in-law. Donna was an avid Packers fan, very artistic, and also enjoyed knitting, reading and volunteering. She was generous of her time, energy and love to those that were touched by her life and her positive outlook impacted many who will sadly miss her.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Eugene, three sons; Michael (Sue), Steven (Beth), Jim (Laura), and one daughter, Kathleen Jensen (Greg); 6 grandchildren; Jason Fencl (Julie), Tara Creamer (Paul), Nicole Zwiers (Craig), Ryan Fencl (Kristin), Rebecca Riedel (Jeremy) and Andrea Fencl; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James Andrus in Cortez CO, but was preceded in death by her parents and sister Caroline Sutton of Little Rock, AR.
Family and friends may call at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, (340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay) on Wednesday, September, 2 2015 from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will follow at 8 PM. Interment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum and Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials in Donna's name can be donated to the Alzheimer's Association or Unity Hospice.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Lakewood Assisted Living who provided continued care and support as Donna's dementia contributed to her gradual decline and to Unity Hospice for their assistance in ensuring comfort and care in her final days.
