Donald M. Stein

October 6, 1927 — December 10, 2022

On December 10, 2022, our mother and father were once again reunited—their marriage of 72 years goes on in heaven.
Donald M. Stein, 95, of Green Bay, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at Allouez Parkside Village-2. He was born on October 6, 1927 to John and May (Brown) Stein.
Don was married on October 29, 1949 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, to Mary (Nickodem) Stein who recently passed away on November 2, 2021.
Don served in the army and was in France and Germany towards the end of World War II. He worked 42 years at Fairmont Foods (Kemps).
Don was the ultimate "handy-man," and took pride in his work, repairing and fixing up just about anything and making it look like new again. He enjoyed cooking out on the grill for family get-togethers. And he devotedly cared for Mary for several years prior to her death. He was so proud of all the rose bushes he planted around the house, and would lovingly present Mary with a rose each day.
For many years, Don enjoyed his winters with Mary at Cocoa Beach, FL, spending much time fishing there. And he especially enjoyed being a dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, and will be missed by all who loved him.
Don is survived by his children: Jeanne (Tom) Ferris of Holts Summit, Missouri, Julie (John) Krock of Green Bay, Debra Stein (Dave Tronnier) of Byron, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren: Laura (Ryan), Paul (Dana), Teresa (Arnold), Cassie (Nick), and Coltan.
He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Hanna, Braden, Connor, Corbin; Ava, Victoria, Dominic, Stella; Althea and Renna; Gabe and Luca.
He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his wife and parents; 5 sisters: Florence (Ed) Morris, Vi (Clarence) Samorske, Frances (Harvey) Olsen, Catherine (Ted) Kielpikowski, and Ceil (Joseph) Hodits; and 4 brothers: Lester, George (Adele), Robert (Eileen), and Wilfred (Rosemary) Stein.
Don's family would like to thank the Allouez Parkside Village-2 staff, especially Nancy, for all their special care of "Donny." Thanks go out to Unity Hospice as well, and to Teresa and Arnold who brought him whatever he needed. And very special thanks go out to John Krock for all his constant care for Don, as well as for Mary.
Friends and family may visit at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial took place at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
