Donald J. Schibly, 84, Green Bay, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born October 6, 1927, in Plymouth, WI to the late Joseph and Lillian (Devine) Schibly. Don attended Ripon College before entering the service prior to the end of WWII. He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1957 he married Carole Fleming at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Green Bay. Don worked at Fort Howard Paper Company, before joining Green Bay Packaging where he worked for many years until his retirement.
Don was an avid sports enthusiast all of his life. He participated in many sporting activities, including golf, bowling, skiing, tennis, and racquetball. He also enjoyed card games with his friends and reading; if Don found a good ole cowboy book he would often read it a second time. For many years Don and Carole would meet with friends and enjoy meals at their favorite restaurants, swapping stories and enjoying a drink or two.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carole; 3 sons: Pat (Mary) Schibly, Tacoma, WA, and their children, Emily, Elizabeth, and Molly; Peter (Missy) Schibly, Manchester, NH, and their children, Nick and Andrew; and Tom (Janelle) Schibly, Winchester, VA; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his two brothers, William and Richard Schibly.
Family and friends may visit Friday, May 11, 2012 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, from 9:30am until mass at 11:00am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or the Green Bay Humane Society.
