Donald E Groth, 78, of De Pere, WI (formerly of Aberdeen, SD) died peacefully on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 of natural causes. He was born to Edward J and Caroline R Groth in Aberdeen, SD on September 13, 1944.
Donald grew up in Aberdeen where he worked for a trucking company, got married, and had three children. He moved the family to Colorado Springs before his fourth child was born and worked a security detail for various actors on western movie sets (one of them being the late John Wayne). He then moved back to Aberdeen, SD where he worked for a Taxi service followed by 3M until retirement. Donald had many friends throughout the years, and he had many interests such as photography, hunting, baseball, and NASCAR racing. Donald will be missed by all of his close friends, co-workers, as well as his family.
Donald is survived by his son, Scotty; daughter, Cheri & Jerome (husband), three grandchildren Scott, David, Kirk; son, Derald & Jackie (wife), four grandchildren Oliver, Devan, Kyle, Alec; son Shawn & Jami (wife), grandchild Claire.
Donald was proceeded in death by his parents (Edward and Caroline); and his brother (Ernest J).
Services will be held at Sunset Cemetery on August 26th at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at Spitzer Miller Funeral Home fellowship hall (1111 S Main, Aberdeen SD). All Friends and Family are welcome to come and share their stories about Donald.
