Donald E. Salzbrun, 83, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2013 at home surrounded by his family, knowing that he spent his time here loving and being loved.
Don was born on September 5, 1929 to the late Martha (Popp) Salzbrun & Frederick Salzbrunn. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey (Svatek) Salzbrun; seven children, Cheryl Brazil, MerryJo (Phil) May, Tom (Ann) Salzbrun, Tony (Kathy) Salzbrun, Amy Salzbrun, Kurt Salzbrun, Joy (Ben) Goeben; nine grandchildren, Jessica Haag; Andrew, Benjamin, Zachary and Hannah Salzbrun; Christian & Gabriel Smith, and Simon & Naomi Goeben.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Renee Salzbrunn; grandson, Adam Schoenke; son-in-law, Jerry Brazil; and sister-in-law, Mary Sue Bolle.
After graduating from Bonduel High School in 1947, he served honorably in the U.S. Army on Guam, where he was wounded in service. He became an active member in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Donald is a past Commander of DAV, Chapter 3, past Deputy Adjutant of Dept. of Wisconsin and past Chief of Staff for National DAV Commander. He was one of the 5 original drivers for the DAV transportation program.
Don worked at Northwest Engineering for over 30 years.
Friends may call from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Thursday, February, 14, 2013, at First United Church of Christ, 509 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm with Dr. Robert Laubenstein officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Don's name.
