David Richard Whitbeck, 80, Green Bay, passed away on March 19, 2022. Dave was born May 14, 1941, in Green Bay, the youngest son of Eunice (Timmerman) Whitbeck and Richard Whitbeck. Dave was a 1960 graduate and class president of the first graduating class of West De Pere High School on Grant Street. After high school, Dave enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed at Andrew's Air Force Base, Tinker AFB, Panama, and Kumejima in Okinawa.
Dave worked at Paper Converting for 35 years. He retired at age 59 and always said he "never regretted a single day of retirement." Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoe trips, and golf. The cottage on Senator Lake saw many happy years as the family played "up north" with Gram and Uncle Dave. Dave became an avid model railroader and switched to hunting for miniature cannons at local antique stores in retirement.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Judy (Van Gemert) Whitbeck.
Dave was the best uncle and second father to his brother Jerry's children. He is survived by Mary Kay Milquet (David Teddy), Wrightstown; Kathleen Whitbeck, De Pere; Robert Whitbeck (Jennifer Greunke), De Pere; and Barbara (Raymond) Rennert, Pooler, GA; twelve great-nieces and -nephews, Elizabeth (Tyler) Felchlin, Wrightstown; Benjamin (Sharon) Milquet, De Pere; Sarah Buechel (Scott Gustafson), Mayer, MN; Ryan Buechel, Chicago; Samuel (Karen Ortega) Buechel, Little Chute, WI; Mackenzie (Ethan) Smith, Johnson City, TN; Andrea (Christian) Harwell, Savannah, GA; Alexandra, Emily, Chase, and Bethany Rennert of Pooler, GA, and Thomas Gerald Whitbeck, De Pere; three great-great-nephews Michael Jacobs, Connor Milquet, and Asher Smith. Private services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. To honor Dave, we ask that all who wish to memorialize him donate to one of his favorite charities: The National Railroad Museum, Wisconsin Public Television, or the Salvation Army.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Team at Bellin, the residents and staff at New Perspective, and Unity Hospice for their friendship and care.
