David Lee Hoslet passed away at his home in Green Bay on June 2, 2020 at the age of 86.
He was born on March 27, 1934 in Green Bay. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1953 and then served four years in the US Coast Guard. During his time in the Coast Guard he served on the United States Coast Guard cutter Storis, which became the first U.S.-registered vessel to circumnavigate North America and was instrumental in charting the path for what would become the Northwest Passage.
Following his tour of duty in the Coast Guard he attended and graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI in June, 1961 with degrees in Biology and Speech. One week later he married Marian Bramer, with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this month.
David owned and was CEO of Sun Equipment and Supply, Inc. for more than 40 years, but his true passion was politics. He served 30 years in elective office - 18 years on the Brown County Board of Supervisors and 12 years on the Allouez Village Board. While serving on the County Board he served in leadership positions on the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena Committee, the Social Services Committee and the Library Board. He also served the community in other ways, including serving for more than 20 years on the Northeast Wisconsin Community Action Program (NEWCAP) board and 20+ years on the Governing Board/Corporation Board for the Neville Public Museum. He was active with the American Cancer Society and the Brown County Historical Society, and was very involved with St. Matthews Parish in Allouez where he served as President of the Men's Club and as an usher for many years.
David is survived by his wife Marian, his children Charles Hoslet (Becky McCulloch) of Madison, WI and Alexandra Martensson (Erik) of Wauwatosa, WI; six grandchildren (Alexander Arzoomanian Hoslet, Arianna Arzoomanian Hoslet, Mariannika Birgitta Martensson, Niklas David Martensson, Krister Heine Martensson, and Mikael Carl Martensson); and his siblings, Mary Timmerman, Phillip Hoslet (Mary Ann), and Judy Shimon (Patrick); sister-in-law, Beverly Kiernan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rowland and Elaine Hoslet and his brother-
in-laws, Richard Timmerman and Patrick Kiernan.
David will be greatly missed for many reasons, including his storytelling, his corny jokes, his mastery of Liverpool Rummy and above all, his love for his family.
Private services will be held by the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Notre Dame de la Baie Academy , the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or'' St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital .
The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Jaslowski, the Milo C. Huempfner Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Green Bay and Unity Hospice for their care and support.
