David G. Corpus

September 8, 1951 — October 31, 2012

Dave G. Corpus Sr. was called to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born, September 8, 1951 to Santos and Maria Corpus in San Antonio, TX. Dave graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1970. On April 26, 1975 he married his childhood sweetheart, Donna Smurawa. Dave worked as a guard at Green Bay Correctional Institute from 1977 (where they knew him as "Tattoo") until he retired from the State of Wisconsin in 2004. He then worked security at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center until 2007.

Dave was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had a caring heart and mischievous sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored immensely. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the drums, playing cards and going to church bingo with Ryley. In addition, he also loved spending time at the land in Crivitz. He treasured the family trips to Wisconsin Dells and the Milwaukee Zoo, as well as, the many family cookouts where he was King of the Grill.

He is survived by his soul mate of 45 years, Donna (nee: Smurawa); 3 loving children: Melissa, Amanda (Jason) Duddek, and David Jr. (Felicia); 5 adorable grandchildren: Hope, Albert, Brennan, Logan and Ryan, all of Green Bay; 2 special grand dogs, Fritz and Fiona; special adopted sons: Brian Londo, stationed in Minot, ND; Tyler Renon and Jeremy Petersen; 8 brothers and sisters; Nena (Ben) Sanchez, Antonio, Santos (Magdelain), Virginia (Pilar) Hernandez; Irene (Tom) Derenne, Elizabeth (William) Gordon, Ernesto (Sharon) and Jim (Sue); sister-in-law, Maria Corpus; and many other beloved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 infant brothers, Ernesto and Roger; brother, Francisco; sister-in-law, Jeanne; parents-in-law; niece, Natalie; 3 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; 2 nephews; and his special adopted son, Troy Milan.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a parish prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St., Green Bay, from 9:30am until 10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday at 10:30am with Rev. Andrew Cribben O.Praem. officiating.

A Special Thank You to the 7th floor CVICU Nursing Staff at St. Luke's Medical Hospital in Milwaukee, Dr. Sulemanjee, Dr. Downey and the Thoracic & Abdominal Transplant Clinics. An extra special thank you to the Transplant Coordinator, Christine.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Dave's name.
