Dave Frank, age 77, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2020. He was born May 1, 1942 in New London, WI, to Gordon and Marie Frank.
Dave was a graduate of Oconto High School, class of 1960. Dave served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve and discharged for his honest and faithful service in 1971. He earned a degree in Mechanical Design Technology from Wausau Technical College. After graduation, Dave initially worked for the John Deere Company. He later worked at Fort Howard in Green Bay. In 1994, Dave began his dream occupation as an independent wedding photographer. He loved capturing the joy in a couple's special day. Dave also enjoyed the benefit of tasting the wedding cake. In fact, he carried his own fork in his camera case specifically for this reason. In the last several years, Dave enthusiastically served as the City of Green Bay's official Santa Claus in the Holiday Parade. He also found great joy in participating in Christmas activities for special needs children and adults. After retirement, Dave became a dedicated volunteer at Bellen Health Center at the Comanche Street location. Dave was a faith-filled man and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Green Bay.
Dave is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia Stegeman-Frank; his son, Christopher (Tara) Frank; daughter, Laurie (Christopher) Staack; son, Brian McKnight; father, Gordon Frank; and sister, Patricia Marie Frank and Joe Roberts. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Frank; Bethany (Daniel) Prazuch; Nuavana Staack; Braden Staack; and great-grandchild, Caroline Prazuch.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Frank, and his son, Gregory Frank.
Dave's family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to the Bellen ICU medical team for their compassionate care and support. We would also like to thank the UW-Madison organ transplant team for the tremendous respect demonstrated for Dave's final wish of gifting life. It was important to Dave to 'pay it forward' after his son Greg was a blessed recipient of a double-organ donation.
Dave would be uncomfortable with a party in his honor, but a celebration of his life will be arranged when everyone can be together for hugs. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School of Green Bay, where he was an active member and believed in Christian education.
