Dave Shefchik

David J. "Dave" Shefchik, age 82, of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 with his son and daughter-in-law at his side. He was born May 14, 1942 in Luxemburg, WI, son of the late Joseph and Anna Mae (Dorner) Schefchik.

Dave married Leatrice Tabordon, February 29, 1960 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Casco, WI. They were married 61 years before Leatrice passed away November 19, 2021. He retired from Fort Howard after over 2 decades of dedicated service. There, he forged life long friendships that lasted long after his retirement.

Dave had a friendly, upbeat nature and enjoyed chatting with people. He loved to laugh and bring a smile to the faces of everyone he encountered. Dave loved a good game of cards with his brothers every Tuesday at noon, a burger at the Hilltop with his son, Mike, fish fries with his daughter, Kathy and breakfasts on Saturday morning with his son-in-law, Al. Dave loved Al's famous brat cookouts and spending time with Al at Hilltop. Along with his wife, Leatrice, Dave loved to travel, especially to Arizona, Nevada and day trips to the casino. Spending time with his feline friend, Missy, was one of his favorite past times. 

David is survived by his daugher, Kathy (Al) Lindner (granddaughter, Jamie (Lucas) Jones and great-granddaughter, Kinsley) and Mike (Pamela) Shefchik and his siblings: Tony (Karen) Shefchik, Jane Hanna, John (Mariann) Shefchik, Larry (Linda) Shefchik, Lennie (Joan) Shefchik, Leroy (Sue) Shefchik. Mary (Greg) Umentum, Fran (Cheryl) Shefchik, Sue (Glen) Pieschek, Gary (Cheryl ) Shefchik, Paul (Jane) Shefchik, Alan (Dawn) Shefchik and Mark (Vicki) Shefchik.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Mae Shefchik; his son, Brian Shefchik and brother-in-law, Alvin Hanna.

Private services were held by Dave's family.

Dave's family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospital for their amazing care and compassion.
