Darleen Schimmel, 82, of Green Bay, WI., passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020. She was born to the late Walter and Evelyn (Vandenbusch) Destaercke on December 20, 1937.
She graduated from East High School in Green Bay in 1955.
Darleen married Melvin C. Schimmel on May 23, 1970. Melvin preceded her in death on January 28, 2005.
She enjoyed traveling around the country with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, needle-point and spending time with her family.
Darlene is survived by her three children: Randall (Joan) De Grave, Cynthia Pigeon (fiancé Randy Smith) and Ronald (Julie) De Grave; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Suzanne Polizzi; nephew J.J. (James) Polizzi; along with her good friends Herman Hasseler and Terry Schlies.
Along with her parents and second husband, she is preceded in death by her son Richard A. De Grave; brother-in-law David Polizzi; son-in-law Henry Pigeon; niece Debra Polizzi; first husband Richard F. De Grave; along with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation for Darleen will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Newcomer- Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301) from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. A private service will be held for the family. Darleen will be entombed next to her husband at Allouez Catholic Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum.
