Darleen H. (Thirion) Christensen, 81, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with her loving husband and family by her side Tuesday, September 04, 2012. She was born February 4, 1931 in West De Pere, to the late George and Nettie (Linskens) Thirion. Dar attended Nicolet High School in West De Pere. She married the love of her life Richard "Dick" Christensen on June 9, 1947 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Dar was a chef for E.R.A. Food Service which serves St. Norbert College. From 1960-1969 she cooked for the Green Bay Packer Organization during training camp. Dick and Dar ran and operated Club 32 De Pere from 1969-1975. She was a talented local artist and shared her art with everyone that she loved. Dar was a member of many area service clubs and organizations and was an excellent golfer. She had a strong faith and volunteered in many church activities.
Dar is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Dick; 4 children: Tom (Jan), Dick, and Harry (Lynn) Christensen, and Bonnie Jean Peterson; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marianne Zehren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, James Peterson; brother, Carl Thirion; and brother-in-law John Zehren.
Family and friends may call Friday, September 7, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a parish prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St., Green Bay, from 10:00am until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Saturday at 11:00am with Rev. Andrew Cribben officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.
