Daniel E. Swanson, 61, Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, surrounded by friends and family at St. Vincent Hospital after a lengthy battle with multiple medical conditions.
He was born on December 7, 1951, to the late Evar & Mary Swanson.
Dan graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, MI, he studied general classes in Gogebic County College and graduated from Northern Michigan University with a master's degree in Public Administration. He was a teacher and principal at St. Mary's Catholic School in Hurley, WI. During that time he fell in love and was married to Diane C. Vanderschaegen. Together they had two children, Cindy and Paul. After moving to Green Bay to be closer to his children, Dan worked at Sears as a salesman for over 20 years. During that time, Dan met his closest and dearest friends, Joyce Prush & Mike Rianni. They continued to have their weekly Sunday get together.
Dan was an avid collector. He loved collecting coins, especially with his close friend John Lerza. Dan loved spending time at his property at Lake Superior. He enjoyed watching Packer games until they were no longer winning. More than anything, Dan enjoyed living for his children and grandchildren.
Dan was extremely empathetic, he would always put others needs and wants before his own.
