Clifford W. Bouche, 92, of Green Bay, beloved husband of 68 years to Myrtle (Hartwig) Bouche, departed this life on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Manorcare East.
Clifford was born on February 17, 1924 in Green Bay, WI son of the late Walter and Clara (Denil) Bouche. He married Myrtle on June 19, 1948. After high school in 1943 he enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps. After several schools he became a flight engineer with the 491st Bombardment Group on a B-24. He flew a full tour of duty. The last 15 he was flight engineer on a Deputy Lead Crew. He came back to the states and flew at Langley Field, Virginia , training Radar Operators at high altitude. Discharged from the service on October 14, 1945. He was a member of the 8th Airforce Museum, Savannah, Georgia. In 2002 he and 11 other members of the 491st. Group went back to England to dedicate two Airfields from which they flew out of during World War II, North Pickinham and Medford, England. He was a member of the Ringmaster's 491st Bombardment Group and also the 2nd Air Division Association. Clifford was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph's Church as well as the Green Bay Retired Men's Club. He was a member of the Association of Chicago & Northwestern Railway. Clifford retired from the railroad where he worked for many years. He enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, played cards with several groups such as smear and sheephead. He also enjoyed going to the cabin up north, fishing, boating, swimming, or just laying in his hammock. He and Myrtle took many trips in the camper and especially loved Florida.
He is survived by his wife Myrtle, and daughter Lois (Thomas) Capelle. He also leaves his daughter-in-law, Joyce Bouche. Clifford also leaves his brother Donald (Lillian) Bouche and a sister, Rosemary Carew. He also leaves 4 grandsons: Christopher (Lydia) Capelle, Nathan Capelle U.S.N., Nicholas (Maria) Bouche, and Anthony Bouche, brother-in-law, Clarence Hartwig, and sister-in-law, Shirley Buser, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his son Stephen Bouche, along with brother-in-laws, Robert Carew and Jerry Buser and sister-in-laws: Marian (John) Steinfeldt, and Rosella Hartwig.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30th from 9-11 AM at St. Joseph Church, 1202 12th Avenue, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be Allouez Catholic Cemetery. The Newcomer Funeral Home of Green Bay has been entrusted with arrangements. The family wishes to thank Manorcare East, Unity Hospice, and the VA for the excellent care given to Clifford.
