Carol G. Nelsen

Carol was born on March 18, 1932, in Green Bay to William and Rose (Guilette) Kuska. She died Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the age of 92. She grew up living at Pamperin Park and graduating from Green Bay West High School.

Carol married Loyal D Nelsen on March 1951, and they raised eight children.

March 18th was a significant day for Carol. It was not only her birthday and wedding anniversary but the birth date of her first grandson. 

Carol's skills in the kitchen were always appreciated. She grew up preparing meals for gatherings at Pamperin Park and later worked for 17 years preparing food daily at Farr's Grove and waitressing for Friday Fish Fry's. Her cakes, pies, and cookies were something special. Many of her recipes are still prized possessions of family members.

Carol is survived by her children: Mike and Lexi Nelsen, Dane and Karen Nelsen, Shelly and Steve Douglas, Lori Cruitt, Lynn and Ken Koeller, Marsha and Doug Scholes, and Scott and Michelle Nelsen, and her sister-in-law: Gail Taylor-LaPlant. She is further survived by numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. And a self-declared favorite nephew, Steve Kerkes.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Loyal Nelsen, her daughter and son-in-law: Christine Rogers and Eric Rogers, grandson: Keith Rogers, daughter-in-law: Dawn Nelsen, parents; Rose and William Kuska, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Elmer and Gladys Nelsen, brother-in-law; Gary Nelsen, sister-in-law, Marion Jergensen, siblings; James Kuska, Ceil Van De Hei, Bernice Kerkes, and Janice Lytie.

Carol's Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI.) Saturday, March 8, 2025 with Funeral Service to be held at 3:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Unity Hospice for their kind and generous care for Carol. We would also like to thank the staff of Woodside for everything done to help the family through this process.
